De Facto Relationships
Legislative changes have enabled parties of certain de facto relationships (including same-sex couples) to obtain equivalent remedies to married couples in the Family Court with respect to financial matters.
The Family Court treats children of de facto relationships no differently to children of married couples with respect to making orders as to where they live, what time they spend with each parent, child support and other specific arrangements.
Following the breakdown of a de facto relationship, Klimek & Co can assist with representation with a view to obtaining a timely and appropriate agreement or (if agreement is not possible) representation in the Family Court. Our lawyers can also advise upon options before or during a de facto relationship to settle disputes that may arise in the event that the relationship breaks down. |
